Richard’s Photography

To celebrate Judith’s 60th Birthday, the two of us have been to the Arctic archipelago of Svalbard in search of a polar bear.

We did not manage to see one alive, but we did find unmistakeable tracks on the sea ice. We crossed 80 degrees north on our ship MS Expedition, but the sea ice was too thick to reach Moffen Island.

The sun shone brightly all night at Kongsfjord.

Judith did come face to face with a polar bear in Longyearbyen.
