NORWEGIAN BRIDGES

Some photos taken during a walk from the north end of the bridge to midspan, during a trip from Haugesund to Bergen by the E39 road.

Opened in the year 2000, with an overall  length of 1,077 m, the Stord Bru is the second longest suspension bridge in Norway. It is part of a complete construction project that links three islands and their population of 33,000 people in the Hardanger Fjord, not far from Bergen. The eye-catching feature of the construction is two pylons of 94.50 m and 86.50 m in height that were  formed 667 m apart. The bridge deck is 13.5m wide and the sailing clearance underneath 18m.
